we remember each breath
like the first thrill we knew
that rushing air 
coming in
the initial blast 

may we remember each breath like the first the last
coming in as well a prayer a reverence to all that is holy and whole
and beautiful and supple and sweet and well the whole world is holy and 
it is quite right to be here remember

their current project is working with small farmers in sub-sahara africa to increase the productivity of their farms using an innovative pump and irrigation system
that allows them to sell extra food at the market and create income which can then be used to send their kids to school or get medical care or raise their standard of living

the grandmother's curse

i don't know where to start this story
with the mythical grandmother or the curse
or shirley jackson's lottery

published in 1948 or the way it was
even as today the way it will be the
curse embodied echoing thru future generations

from adam's first germ onward it seems someone had to die
to get the glory going to recieve the blessing
those beloved departed bestowed
and so it came down to us today in all
it's various ways

that the sacrifice is good that the sacrifice
is holy and herein lies the truth

that was the year i had
a nervous breakdown and
moved to mexico where i took
up scuba diving and became
a shark guide sharks are easy
to guide i became infatuated
with a blackhaired girl
with brown eyes and moved
to Peru to chase
her she escaped and
i found myself in Barcelona
alone on a sidewalk

i think a short history of everything
would be the story of the hunt
and the conquest the prey
and the prayer the mosquito

I don't want any credit for
what i have done it's
unfinished
like the earth and unknown
like the familiar objects of our world
and the foriegn languages in foriegn cities
that speak words like 'the stars are upside down'
the sky is cloudy maybe raining

one foot in one room the other in
davy crockett's castle it has to
do with music
i think but i could be wrong

it might be light
or earth or cosmic strings permeating
everything

I could see that
but what are the strings made of ??
ofcourse is the next question
and why are they vibrating
like a bee's wing like the
dancing trees like the breathing
inside me
